Spring Fever!
Newly transplanted Blackberry Bushes
As the daylight gets longer and the air temperatures warm, I am drawn to the outdoors for my spring gardening tasks, pruning blueberry bushes, cleaning out flower beds, etc. If you are anything like me then you may have tried to do a bit too much on your first few trips out this year. I have encountered a few cranky muscles that had been, let’s be honest, a little dormant over the winter months! Now that they are activated and I’m asking them to do their job again they sometimes shout out to me…. ‘Jen why did you do so much?!’ Just as an example, the day after digging up a patch of ground (about 4ft x 8ft) to start a new blackberry bed this is exactly what happened. My hamstrings were miserable and my triceps ached. A massage was exactly what I needed as well as some self-care and a reminder to take it a bit easy the next time out!
So, if you find yourself in a similar situation, schedule an appointment with me for a massage so we can get you back to feeling ready to tackle that next project outdoors. Therapeutic massage is a great way to help reduce and relieve pain for when you overdo it but it’s even better when you make it part of your healthcare routine. As part of your wellness plan, massage can help to make it so that those muscles are ready to go when you ask them to tackle the bigger jobs. But remember to definitely tell yourself to take it slow out of the gate, I say this as a reminder for you but for ME as well! Comment and tell me what you love most about Spring! Happy gardening and remember, schedule your massage today!
